Reading for this week is Chp. 16, Sec. 1-5, pp.460-498

Friday--Sec. 5
Prep for Final Exam: On Friday students were given a Study Guide for the final along with the tests they had taken on Chapters 6--9. Students should use the tests and study guide to review for the final (Click here for copy of study guide.) They may also study the notes that they have taken on any chapter listed on the study guide, as well as any of the worksheets that they have received on these chapters.
Extra Credit Assignment: Due Monday, May 17th.
Evaluating a Web Site--Read p. 429.
Then do "Practicing the Skill" and answer questions #1-5.
List 5 new and interesting things that you learned from this site.
Write a thoughtful opinion paragraph about the Underground Railroad. For example, would you have been willing as a free person to help slaves escape to the north? If you were a slave would you have risked trying to escape using the Underground Railroad? Why or why note. What are your opinions about any of the specific people that you read about? What do you think about the laws that were passed to force authorities in the northern states to try to capture escaped slaves and return them to their owners?

Monday, 3/29--Turn in Guided Reading 9-3 and Re-Teaching 9-3 (excluding essay). This was mostly completed in class on Friday.
Wednesday, 3/31--Test on Chp. 8 & 9. Study guide provided in class on Monday. Click here for copy.March 15: Finish reading Sec. 2 and complete Guided Reading 8-2 by Tuesday. (Only one side of handout; the 2nd side will be done in class.)
